She is a member of the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi), WWA, Black Achievers Network, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., and serves on the City of South Fulton’s Parks & Recreation Board. In 2024, the city honored her with a proclamation recognizing her as a community trailblazer.

Barbara is a retired Program Manager with the U.S. Department of Defense, a graduate of Alabama A&M University, and an avid fan of books, pickleball, and mystery films.
