Interview From Smashwords

What is your writing process?

I am a fiction writer of murder, mystery, and suspense stories. My writing is a five-step process: (1)Come up with a title (2) Put ideas on paper in the format of a map (3)Develop an outline (4) Choose characters from the most popular names in the state or city I am using for my story (5)The most crucial step is to research. The purpose of the research is to ensure readers understand every detail of my book.

What do you read for pleasure?

Fiction is my favorite. I read the bible for wisdom and knowledge.

What is your e-reading device of choice?

My favorites are the iPad and Amazon fire.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?

I grew up in the small town of Ashville, Alabama. While in elementary school I developed a passion for reading books and newspapers. The written word by authors was so intriguing then and now. At that young age, I had no clue about how authors came up with such fantastic stories for children that would encourage you to read.

What motivated you to become an indie author?

When I started writing, my knowledge of how to get a book published was minimal. I am an avid reader and I read many different genres. I felt that I could write as well or better than some of the best selling authors. While educating myself on the process of publishing a book, I found there is a huge demand for indie authors. I also found that there are independent bookstores in every state.

How would you describe yourself?

I am very detail-oriented and somewhat of a perfectionist because in my professional career I worked as a civilian in a military environment. In everything I do, I try to give my best.

Are you working on a new book?

I am currently working on two books. One is the sequel to 'Who Would Have Thought' which is titled 'Consequences of Crime, Greed, & Love'. The third book title will be 'Don't Go There'.  Both will be published in 2021.
